Happy Saturday! I am snuggled up with Owen, watching Gilmore Girls, and I have my Christmas Spirit essential oil going…needless to say I am COZY!! And I am ready to recap our little trip to Red River Gorge earlier in the week! We stayed at the Lion’s Lair Treehouse and we had the most AMAZING time.

We got in around 3:00 on Monday and I immediately made us a pot of coffee and we split a Clif Bar for a snack. We settled into the treehouse a little bit before setting off on a quick hike around the property.

We hiked for about an hour before it started getting dark outside!

I cannot explain how nice it was to escape the craziness of the world for a while. I had limited cell service, just enough to call someone if needed, and we didn’t have a TV or Wifi. We were surrounded by nature and it was the best feeling. We got back when it was dark and he made us a camp fire. He grilled us some steaks while I burnt the veggies and snacked on white cheddar kettle chips. We ended the night with popcorn, M&Ms, and the game Sequence. Not to brag…but I beat him 4 times! LOL.

I was up bright and early the next morning to make some coffee, spend time with Jesus, journal, and make a bowl of oatmeal! I could get used to waking up in the peacefulness of the woods 🙂

Around 9:00 we set out to hike all day! I packed us trail mix, water, PB & banana sandwiches on sourdough and apples!

It was a BEAUTIFUL day to hike. The weather was perfect.

We ended up getting turned around a few times and finally asked for directions around 2:30…hahaha

Grey’s Arch!

We finally made it back to our treehouse around 3:30 and ordered Miguel’s Pizza for an early dinner. We also had an Ale 8! You have to try both when you got to RRG 🙂 We ended up hiking around 10 miles that day. We were exhausted!

We took a nap around 4:30 and when I woke up the sun was setting…I made some coffee and enjoyed reading my book.

We ended the night with sweet tart ropes, peanut M&M’s, and we played Rummy. This time he kicked my butt and beat me about 5 times!
We fell asleep early and I was up to make coffee and journal before packing everything up to head home! We had the best time together just enjoying each others company and escaping the rest of the world. It was a quick trip but MUCH needed. I am thankful for the time we had.
I hope you all had a wonderful week!! And I hope you get a chance to stay at the Lion’s Lair 🙂
Oh my goodness- what a dream!!!! This place looks incredible! Thanks for sharing!!
