Happy Monday! I am currently in Orange County staying with some family friends after spending a few days in Sacramento and I gotta tell ya, I LOVE California. The weather is wonderful and there is healthy food or coffee on every corner and it is glorious.
Before I get into all the details about my trip – let’s back up to last week!
Since I drink smoothies about 90% of the time, I had a huge craving for toast! I used to eat peanut butter toast all the time when I was recovering from my eating disorder and then I kind of got burnt out on it. The craving was in full swing so I made some! This isn’t just typical PB toast though, I obviously had to jazz it up a little. I’m not high maintenance or anything.
First, I toasted two pieces of gluten-free bread. While the bread was toasting I sautéed 1/4 of an apple in 1/2 tsp coconut oil and cinnamon. Once the toast was done I topped one with almond butter and one with peanut butter. I added the sautéed apple to the almond butter one and 1/2 a frozen banana to the peanut butter one. Then, I topped everything with cinnamon, chia seeds, and sunflower seeds.
The day before my trip to Cali I loaded up on all the good things. I took double of my Juice Plus+ and then stopped by Beet Box to pick up a few Zest juices to drink. I love fruits and veggies and all of their healing powers.
On Wednesday I was up at 3:30 a.m. to get ready for my 6:00 a.m. flight. Once we landed in Sacramento, we dropped our bags off and then made our way to find some food. I was running off 1 granola bar and it was 3:00 p.m. CA time and 5:00 p.m. my time. We stopped by Vibe Health Bar for a quick bite. I ordered the plant-based burger, a green juice, and some protein bites to share with everyone. I obviously got a “Higher Vibes” shirt because it describes my life so well.
After eating we headed over to Trader Joe’s to stock up on “just a few snacks” LOL – We totally over estimated how many snacks we needed so now I have a suitcase full of rice cakes, peanut butter cups, and sea weed snacks that I never ate.
Once we left Trader Joe’s we headed over to the Convention Center to get checked in for the conference.
I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these guys! Tower Gardens!! Up to 90% less water and space and grows up to 30% healthier food and 3x faster.
We were exhausted by the end of the night!
Thursday morning I woke up and was ready to do a quick workout. I was more than excited to drink my smoothie when I got back!
We had until 3 before the conference began so we wandered around Sacramento for a little while.
Our first stop was Temple Coffee Roasters! One of the best french pressed coffees of my life!
The Capitol building in Sacramento is beautiful!
Next stop, See’s Candies! I picked up a bunch of goodies for my family! When you walk around in there, they give you samples. It was glorious.
Next on the list, Mother! I ordered the kombucha on tap and the vegan nut-burger over arugula instead of a bun. Everything was incredible!
We even met the sweetest ladies in the world! They were best friends in their 70’s and they were such beautiful souls. I was so glad I got to talk to them! They happened to be in our organization too so we had a lot to talk about – aka, all the fruits and veggies.
And then we were off to the opening of conference! We heard from several top people in our company and even Rachel Platten performed! She’s even more adorable and down-to-earth in person.
Around 6 we wandered off to find dinner!
The restaurant was terrible but the company was not! How many people can say they get to hang out with millionaires ?!?! This lady right here is my inspiration!! She is one of the top people in our company and I love soaking up all her knowledge.
My other inspirations!!!!! Holly (in the yellow top) is my mentor and I would be lost without her!
I woke up early on Friday morning and did another quick workout before getting ready for the day. I stopped by Pressed Juicery for breakfast juice! One celery juice and one greens 3 juice.
I was so excited about lunch because we were heading to a courtyard opening! The restaurant was called The Firehouse and it was one of the most beautiful restaurants with incredibly friendly staff.
They have an amazing wine menu so I decided to do a little day drinking. LOL
I ordered “Taken” a red blend from Napa Valley and it was THE BEST GLASS OF WINE OF MY LIFE. I am not even kidding. I ordered another one right after! The manager came by to ask how we were doing and I told him how obsessed with the wine I was. Then, he offered to take me on a private tour of their winery! Over 6,100 bottles of wine. It was incredible.
This meal was incredible and I am so glad we got to experience this place!
Them, we were off to conference again! I love getting to meet people in real life. Sandra and I follow each other on social media and it was so fun getting to connect with her in person. She is so beautiful inside and out!!!
We were all still full from lunch so we wandered around Sacramento again and then landed at Pressed Juicery for almond milk freeze for dinner! I got chocolate with vegan m&ms, and an almond butter and cacao drizzle.
Saturday morning was our last day in Sacramento and I was a little sad. I loved it there! The weather was beautiful and the city felt small rather than large and overwhelming.
I picked up a California necklace to remember my time here. 🙂
I was off to the airport and enjoyed a simple salmon salad while I waited for my flight.
And then I was off to Orange County for a few days! I can’t wait to write about that later. I hope you are having the best Monday.
I wish every state could have as many healthy options as Cali has! Your time in Sacaramento sounds like it was a blast. All of the food looks so tasty!! I need to try that almond milk freeze?! Whaaat? & vegan m&ms? Please!! Lol.
Can’t wait to read all about the OC. 🙂
