Okay, how on earth is it December?! I cannot believe it! I hope you all had a wonderful November. I haven’t written a recap in a while so I thought I would fill you all in on what I have been up to. I used to write recaps ALL THE TIME! It’s so fun for me. I like having these blog posts to look back on what I was doing during different seasons of my life. So lettuce get to it!

The weather has been wonderful lately! Which means I have been taking a lot of walks. Walking is the only form of exercise I have been doing since getting my surgery at the end of September. I try to go on a walk every single day. It definitely improves my mood and is a great stress reliever.

One evening I went over to my parents house to hang out with my mom and sister while they made sugar cookies in the shape of blackberry pies. They were SO GOOD but they messed with my mind because my brain was expecting to eat pie and it was the taste of sugar cookie! Regardless, they were delicious and my sister did such a great job decorating them.

My sweet husband wanted our Christmas decorations up early this year and who am I to refuse putting up Christmas decorations?! Our house is so cute and cozy with all the twinkly lights. I have been loving reading a book with my hot chocolate by the tree. I love to light up our tree in the morning and do my Bible study there too. So peaceful!

Before we closed the cafe for a few days to enjoy the holiday we had a Friendsgiving for my employees. This is the sweetest group of ladies! I am so grateful for them working so hard to make my dream come true at the cafe each day. God truly has blessed me a great staff!

The day before Thanksgiving I made my pumpkin pie, caramel snickerdoodle pie from Half Baked Harvest. This pie ended up being a HIT! I also went on a long walk with Owen, read, and just enjoyed my day off work.

Thanksgiving morning I woke up and got my sweet potato casserole in the oven, deep cleaned the house, and made a yummy breakfast! I headed over to my parents house around noon to start drinking warm cider before a Thanksgiving feast. Leon had to work that day so after we enjoyed our meal my mom and I took him some food at work 🙂

I usually cry on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and my birthday. This year was no different. I don’t know why but I get so emotional around the holidays! I love getting older but its also sad how things will never quite be the same. My siblings and I are just growing up so fast! After we ate pie it was just so weird to head home to my own house for the evening. I feel so blessed and thankful for so many things in this life. Jesus truly has blessed me in more ways than I can count. I just get a little motional growing up 🙂

On another note…it was dog central on Thanksgiving day!

On the Friday after Thanksgiving Leon and I spent the entire day together! It was WONDERFUL! I went on a long walk, made myself breakfast, worked on a few things, and then we got ready to head into town. We stopped to eat leftovers at my parents house before heading to Big Lots and Wal Mart to find Christmas decorations for the cafe. The rest of the evening was spent watching Christmas movies, working on our Christmas puzzle, and eating popcorn!

Saturday after I opened the cafe Leon and I traveled to see his family for Thanksgiving! It was nice getting to hang out with them and eat good food! I am very thankful I married into such a funny, kind, and caring family!!

I will never get over how cute Owen is. I am obsessed with him! He always keeps me company when Leon is at work. I never talk about our other 2 dogs…Rhett and Finn… lol. They were Leon’s dogs before he met me and they always just do their own thing! Owen follows me EVERYWHERE and is always at my feet. Rhett and Finn just park themselves on their dog bed and don’t move until Leon gets home haha.

I have been loving snack plates for lunch lately. I basically just love dipping anything in hummus. This Haig’s Hummus was at my local Food Lion and I LOVE it because it doesn’t have any weird oils or preservatives. The weird cat food is just tuna, dijon mustard, pickles, and salt / pepper!

I also got my haircut this past Monday!!!!! SO SHORT NOW. I am still in mourning over my long hair. I wanted a change and now I regret it. I think I am just not used to seeing myself with short hair. And now I feel so vain for putting my identity in my hair and not in Christ. I tell ya, I am crazy. Any who, it is definitely an adjustment!

One night this week for dinner I made Leon and I this stovetop lasagna from The Real Food Dietitians. I used shells instead of lasagna noodles and it still turned out amazing! The Real Food Dietitians are my FAVORITE website for fast, easy, healthy recipes. I have never had a recipe turn out bad when I follow their instructions.

And I will leave you with this adorable photo of Owen! I hope you all had the best November and I hope your December is starting off right! Until next time 🙂
