Happy Wednesday Friends! Instead of the usual WIAW post, I thought I would share with you some of the products and foods I use/eat almost daily to keep my skin looking healthy.
First, let me start by saying I am NOT an expert or professional by any means. I am simply a girl who loves to research health topics and eat my body weight in peanut butter, kapeesh? Kapeesh.
- Dessert Essence Face Wash $5.95 via Thrivemarket.com
I have been washing my face religiously since I first learned how to at a Mary Kay party in 7th grade (Hi Mrs. Audrey!). I am kind of obsessed with washing my face, I love how clean it makes me feel. I usually wash my face in the morning after a workout or after waking up and at night just before I go to bed. Barrett is actually the one who introduced me to this face wash (Bless a man who keeps his skin healthy too) and I love that there are no weird ingredients in it.
2. Fair Trade Coconut Daily Face Lotion SPF 15 $5.15 via Thrivemarket.com
Moisturizer and sunscreen are your best friends. Moisturizer and sunscreen are your best friends. Moisturizer and sunscreen are your best friends.
Now repeat that mantra daily, okay? This face lotion does not leave my skin feeling greasy or oily and it has SPF built right in. Plus, no weird ingredients here either! Win win.
3. Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes (in Pink Grapefruit) $5.09 via Target
After sweating it out at Crossfit this summer, I noticed my skin started to get a little acne around my nose and chin. I realized that since I was not washing my face right after my workout, I was letting all that sweat dry up and absorb back into my face. I started keeping these wipes in my car so that when I finish up at Crossfit, I can simply wipe all the sweat from my face. The pink grapefruit one is my current favorite because it smells good and leaves me skin feeling refreshed!
4. Organic Almost Castile Liquid Soap Dr. Bronner’s $10.95 via Thrivemarket.com
This stuff is a true luxury I tell ya. It smells like Marzipan and leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh. I even converted Barrett over to this stuff!
5. Light Golden Mineral Foundation by Mineral Hygienics $14.95 via Thrivemarket.com
I know there are tons and tons of makeup products out there but I am someone who typically does not like wearing much makeup. I found that this light-weight powder makes me feel like my skin is still able to breathe! I like that there are also no weird ingredients in this product.
6. Water!
Make this one another mantra! I try to drink at least a gallon or more of water a day. If you do not like water, try adding different fruits or a squeeze of lemon or lime juice into your drink. I used to not like water either but I found that once I started drinking more of it, my body began to craze it. Weird I know but it’s true! I keep my Nalgene with me at all times.
7. Green smoothies
I think you all know my love for this lovely colored smoothie. It is a great way to get more fruits and vegetables into your diet, it’s refreshing, and I personally think my skin glows a little more on the day’s I drink them. I like to add spinach, banana, unsweetened almond milk, and a half-scoop of Vega One.
8. Fresh fruits and vegetables
This one seems obvious doesn’t it? I try to eat a mostly plant-based diet (but eat meat if someone makes it for me!) and I love the way eating tons of fruits and vegetables make me feel. Try swapping out one of your meals for a plant-based meal each day and try switching one your snacks to an apple or some carrot sticks.
There are numerous ways to keep your skin healthy and happy but I find that these 8 things are what works best for me. I would love to know what you do to keep your skin healthy too!
Have a fantastic Wednesday!
P.S. I know a lot of my products are from Thrivemarket.com, however, I am not in any way affiliated with them. I just simply love the price of their products and what they stand for!
